Meet Dr Steve KT
Dr Stephen (Steve) Kinsey-Trotman is a fellow in general surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). His elevation to the role of breast, thyroid and general surgeon is a culmination of years of dedicated passion for clinical surgery and research with a marked focus on developing good patient and team relationships.
Steve grew up in the Perth and Adelaide hills before attending Flinders University to obtain his medical degree. He gained significant clinical experience across Adelaide metropolitan and rural hospitals and completed a Master of Surgery (MSurg) qualification through research into the long term clinical outcomes of antireflux surgery. Following the completion of his general surgery training he was admitted as a fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2021 (FRACS).
His post-fellowship training spanned five years with considerable experience in breast, endocrine and general surgery. These included high volume caseloads at the Lyell McEwin Hospital within both Breast and Endocrine Surgery and the Emergency/Acute Surgical Unit (ASU). Steve then gained further experience in chest wall perforator flaps for partial breast reconstruction, thyroid surgery and breast oncoplastic techniques at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Within the breast and endocrine unit of RHH he also contributed to the BreastScreen Tasmania consultant roster. He has worked as a consultant surgeon within both the Queen Elizabeth and Modbury Hospitals. His professional affiliations include associate membership of both Breast Surgeons of ANZ (BreastSurgANZ) and Australia and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons (ANZES). He is also completing PhD studies through Adelaide University in clinical breast cancer.
When not at work Steve enjoys spending time with his young family, playing recreational squash, enduring Essendon Football club membership, learning new things at his local church, tinkering in the shed and collecting diecast model cars.
